This is a Temporary, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

Together, we are recruiting a person that will improve the financial wellbeing of those accessing the food bank. Through the use of budgeting tools, income maximisation and money management guidance, the food bank link worker will help people to improve their financial literacy. People using the service will often need support and guidance to access services and resources and networks within their community. Individuals may lack the skills and knowledge to manage their situation on their own at that time; the role of the service is to help individuals to learn the skills required to manage in the future.

Swale Foodbank was founded in 2012 by churches in the local area in response to a growing need. We now have 4 different centres open on 4 different days of the week, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. Food is donated by local churches, schools, businesses, and individuals. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

In 2020 The Trussell Trust launched their new 5-year strategy, with a new vision: for a UK without the need for food banks; this aligns with Porchlight’s vision of a safe home, better life, and fairer future for everyone.

The role requires:

  • Experience of working with people experiencing financial hardship
  • Experience of helping people to maximise their income.
  • Experience of working collaboratively cross organisations
  • Excellent communication skills

Working pattern: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday with some flexibility required.

Contract type: 2-year fixed term contract.

Interview date: TBC

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early.

Please note, salaries are pro-rata for part-time positions.

Porchlight is a charity supporting people who are homeless, vulnerable, and isolated. At Porchlight, we are passionate about helping vulnerable people to reach their full potential. We strive for a fairer society where vulnerable people find stability, the most excluded are included, and where homelessness and poverty are things of the past.
